Day Hiking the West Coast Trail: Pachena Bay to Sea Lion Rocks

The West Coast Trail is a world class multi-day hiking destination on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. If you’re in the Bamfield/Pachena Bay area, you’re allowed to day hike the West Coast Trail to the sea lion rocks. Check in with the visitor centre before hiking.

Distance: ~20km 

Region: Pacific Rim National Park (Bamfield)  

Trail Type: Out and Back  

Duration: 6 hours (3 hours each way)  

Difficulty: Easy. If you can’t walk the beach section, the first forest section is moderate due to multiple ladders.  

Accessibility: This trail has roots, ladders, mud and bumps. It is not wheelchair accessible.
